Thirty years later kitchen & powder room Remodel
inver grove heIghts | Minnesota
For more than thirty years, this Inver Grove Heights home held on to the same kitchen, and plenty of golden oak. When the time finally came to remodel, the goal wasn’t to erase what the home had been, but to thoughtfully bring it forward.
Removing a closet that had pinched the kitchen for decades gave the space some much-needed breathing room. But one thing the homeowners didn’t want to change was the original hardwood flooring, which was still in beautiful condition. Rather than replace or refinish it, new cabinetry was carefully designed around the existing footprint, preserving every board.
A sage green island with beadboard detailing and furniture-style legs now anchors the kitchen, bringing color and character to the warmer wood tones that remained. The palette carries into the refreshed powder room and a painted dining room buffet, a finishing touch that helped tie the entire main level together. A new railing and fresh paint complete a finish that feels updated without feeling disconnected from the home it has always been. Thirty years in the making, this kitchen is ready for its next chapter.
