The lower level had the pieces for entertaining, just not the feel. A peninsula bar and mismatched flooring kept the two halves from connecting, while a dated cherry palette made the entire space feel closed in. Inspired by a Caribbean hotel bar, the homeowners came home with a specific vision: part Havana bar, part neighborhood sports lounge. Think color-drenched green, smoky mirrors, warm wood and plenty of room for people to gather and move freely.
Two archways were opened, the peninsula became a full island, and an underused wine cellar was transformed into a pantry, bringing better flow and function to the entire lower level. Then came the personality: bold botanical wallpaper, smoky mirrored accents and a green ceiling carried one shade lighter than the walls. Now, every part of the lower level has a reason to stay awhile, from the pool table and game table to the dry bar tucked under the stairs, generous seating and a dedicated movie room.
