The Challenge:Create main-floor family room, enlarge cramped master bedroom and bath, re-do kitchen, refresh the home inside and out while maintaining its 1940s character.

Our Solution: An old screened porch was removed to make way for the addition at the back of the home, and removing an interior wall opened up the kitchen and dining area. The new addition includes a sunny family room on the main floor, with a spacious master suite upstairs. In the kitchen, new Shakerstyle cherry cabinetry, crown molding, honed granite counters and a marble-topped center island exude comfortable, efficient elegance. Upstairs is an airy new master bedroom with walk-in closet, and a luxurious bathroom highlighted by a slipper tub and furniture-style vanity. From light fixtures to floor tiles, interior details have been carefully chosen to honor the home's heritage. Finally, all windows were replaced for improved energy efficiency.

The Challenge: Provide more open living and entertaining space for a family of four and rejuvenate their 1987 split level-style home.

Our Solution: The seamless addition of a new family room on the rear of this home, plus a reconfigured and enlarged kitchen, gives everyone the openness they wanted. The spacious new kitchen gleams with cherry and granite, the convenience of a walk-in pantry, and new wood floors. The family room addition is thoughtfully designed to provide entertainment and family gathering options while also balancing both daylight and privacy on a corner lot. Other updates include new cabinetry in the master bath, a new walk-in closet in the master bedroom, new foyer flooring and a variety of decorating details throughout the home.
